I think 8 out of 10 teams making the playoffs is overkill and makes the regular season meaningless.
I don't think that a team with 4 or 5 wins during the regular season has a right to play for the championship. I really think we should narrow it down to six teams. I feel that you should actually have to earn it a little bit. Even with six teams we would still have over 50% of the league making the cut.
On another note concerning the playoffs is the championship game. Most leagues play their championship game during week 16 because as most football fans know week 17 is basically a pre-season game or I guess you could say it's a pre-post season game. either way it's a total garbage week of football with the majority of starters sitting on the bench by the second quarter. I think if we had our championship game during week 16 it would be a much better ending to the season than the half-ass week 17 where you are just guessing well maybe this player will play a half, and maybe this guy will get a td in his one quarter of play.

I agree to the week 17. I disagree about the number of teams, only because it extends the eason for other people and makes it more fun for them.
I tried to say season and I failed.lol
you still get to play your games against the other teams that did not make it. it's just seems pointless to even have a playoff system if everyone gets to be a part of it.
if we are concerned about everyone being able to play to the end, then we should not even have playoffs and just play for points or the best regular season record.
i personally prefer playoffs, but not in the current setup with everyone getting in. i mean that really isn't even playoffs then. imagine if the nfl allowed 80% of the teams in. no longer would every week matter and nobody would care about the regular season. it just cheapens everything and makes the regular season really boring.

I vote for 6 teams in the playoffs and the championship on week 16. I know that it may be less fun for the teams not in the playoffs and the season will seem shorter, but I prefer that over having the championship be a random game of luck based on which NFL teams play their starters in week 17.
I myself don't mind having the last week bumped up but I don't like only 6 playoff teams. Yeah its a high percent that make playoffs but it's still playoffs which means one loss and your out, "unworthy" teams make playoffs every year in football. While I understand both sides on this issue I only feel the worst of the worst should'nt make playoffs.

anyways back to the playoffs...the thing with fantasy football is any week some team could go crazy and score a ton of points. why should a team that was consistently bad all year still have a chance at the championship. it's lame and makes the first 13 weeks boring because nothing matters. nfl lets in the top 12 of 32 teams which is like the top 30%. are all the teams great? no, but they were consistent enough to get into the playoffs and earn a chance at the title. the playoffs should be a privilege you earn for having a solid season and not a free pass to all.
Well which way do you like more, 6 playoffs teams or bumping up the championship one week? I only will vote for one. Since fantasy has those huge luck weeks then week 17 is no different, its still a luck shot. I don't really care which one passes but I don't want them both.

i don't know why we couldn't vote on both. the 6 teams in the playoffs is about making the regular season more fun and making it more fair for the teams that did well all year.
the championship in week 16 is a completely separate issue and is just standard fantasy football.
We totally can vote on both Schaef, I think they should be two different topics though.
I'm not a fan of 6 playoffs teams just because I was hit hard by injuries last year and after correcting what I could I wouldn't have made playoffs in 6 team format. You were on top the pile almost all year so it's easier to want 6 teams in. If we do 6 teams then when you get a few injuries your season is over sooner because fighting for a spot becomes impossible. I'm for bumping up the championship though.
I vote for 8 teams in the playoff and the last week being week 16.
injuries, like in real football, is just part of it. a good team owner can rebound by adding a quality free agent...or in your case make 20 trades. you just have to suck it up. just cause a team comes together at the end of the season doesn't mean they should get a shot at the championship.
you people are all silly, and want everything to be too damn easy. at least dan has some balls. the way you guys are going into the season is man i am going to have a sucky team, but who cares cause 8/10 make it anyways. i could have a horrible season this year and finish 7th. that would be my fault for not making the playoffs. it's up to me to make the right moves. if somebody gets hurt i need to find someone to replace him. if somebody isn't playing well, i need to decide whether i should cut him, trade him or hold on and see if he gets out of his slump. the nitz's need to tough it up a bit. you guys all want cake walks.
Schaef, you have good arguements for your point but I don't see how my points aren't valid. We could debate it all day but I don't think we would get anywhere, so I will leave this topic up for the rest of the league to please vote on. I'll roll with whatever the outcome is but my view can't be changed.

Fantasy football is more luck than skill if you think different your nuts. Plus it is suppose to be fun for all not just a few. How would you feel if you finish 7th instead of first pretty shity. I think week 16 is a great idea, but 6 teams sucks. Plus to say that the first 13 games a meaningless is crap. You still have to do well enough to make the playoffs ask Dan, Dan if they don't count and if they enjoyed watching the playoffs instead of playing, if they did they shouldn't even be playing. Plus with 2 new players they have a better chance to experince the playoffs. Its easy to act tough when you won but the year before you didn't look so tough.
I don't see why we need almost the whole league making the playoffs. Granted this is a fun league, but 6 teams in the playoffs just seems to make more sense to me. If I go 4-9 or something, I wouldn't expect to make the playoffs.

luck is involved in anything, but to be consistent, you need more than luck. so if you were consistent for the regular season you then earn a chance to get lucky and win it all, hello New York Football Giants. i think six out of ten is a lot, but at least acceptable.
i am not just being a tough guy cause i won last year, dan voted yes for 6 and he was at the bottom. but he's got balls, and i like his balls.

If you stop counting peoples votes no matter if their on the blog or not than don't vote at all. Have your commish make the rules and leave it. You stop counting votes no matter how you hear them, as long as they are in the league than you will lose players.
