So we can sign draft picks and players that were drafted and traded. Next contract issue will be the certain rules for signings. So options to talk about are.......
1. Draft picks must remain on roster for the whole year.
2. Draft picks/traded can be dropped safe if under contract already and will go back to owner at start of next season.
3. Draft picks/can be dropped safe all year with the option of signing at the end of the season.
this is all open to bringing new ideas to the table, in general is seems that rules that apply to draft picks might not apply to traded draft picks, which makes the issue alittle tricky. I think once we adopt one of this ideas then we can make firmer rules for it.

I vote for 2
i think it should be 1...you should have to keep players you want for the next season. to me it doesn't make sense that you can trade somebody and still expect to be able to re-sign him the following year. i also think it could lead to some shifty trades for teams that are way out of it. they could just trade their star player away knowing they will just get him back next year...so i think that is total b.s.
if you are worried about losing a player to I.R. than we could make up a rule that if a player goes on I.R. than you can drop that player without losing rights to said player. other than that any dropping and trading of players is your own doing and you should have to think about the future when you are making these decisions.
I wouldn't care about having to keep players you want to sign on your roster under two conditions.
1. the IR rule makes sense and is a good idea for this
2. we keep it to a 15 man roster so we have an empty spot there.
instead of increasing the bench and hoarding players i would rather we bump up the max amount of moves per season.
that way you don't have to worry about using up all your moves early if you need a running back this week and receiver next week you can drop and add more freely. giving you flexibility with your back ups with out thinning the free agents even more.
this would be much better for teams who are having injury issuies. they will have a much better chance staying competitive if there are more players to choose from in the free agents instead of sitting on our benches.
I find limited moves to be more challenging, if you have a ton of moves and a thicker FA pool, where is your challenge Schaef? Just because you have more moves doesn't mean you want to drop everyone all the time to get new guys. For me a 15 person roster makes sense with your "keep them all year for signing" rule. I don't have a gray area here, I will only vote for that rule if these conditions come with. Changing every rule is a bit to hardcore, nothing will feel like the league we played in the last few years. I'm for your rule but I don't see the big deal with keeping it to 15 man roster, with the IR rule, you have to meet people half way sometimes Schaef.
You silly silly silly silly silly silly silly silly silly silly silly man.
i'm not saying that i'm not willing...i was just stating what i thought.
personally i don't need the extra moves, i was just trying to find a middle point of keeping our benches the same and not having to worry about losing somebody you want to keep. i would like to keep the moves and bench the same.
i just think it's odd, that we cut a qb due to lack of quality back ups, yet we are going to get an extra bench spot to hoard another player.
even with that said, i will meet you half way and take the extra bench player. i just don't want us to be able to drop and trade players and still be able to sign them next year just because we drafted them. that's just retarded.
Ok, well I'm on board with you then.
