As Huge As It Is, Why Doesn't It Surprise Me.

Video

So the Pats are cheaters, that's not real surprising and its been a story it seems every year with them, now something was finally done. I'm all for Goodell stepping up and staying firm on his punishments, if nothing else it makes them think alittle more before doing something stupid. The punishment for the spying was the team was fined 250k, coach fined 500k, and if they get to the playoffs this year they will lose their 1st round pick, if they don't go to the playoffs they lose their 2nd and 3rd round picks. I wouldn't be shocked if they are caught trying some other type of spy stuff next year.

As you guessed it, the blog is not really needed during the season so the posts will be rare, good luck all

Deadline Being Bumped Up!!!

From talking to everyone around the league it seems that everyone is done making their free moves and trades, since that is the case the deadline has been moved up a few days to the 29th of August. This does not mean you can't make a move right now if you wanted to. If you have a move in mind that you did plan to do before the old deadline let me know right away and you can still make the move after the new deadline, if you don't notify me of a move you're thinking of now you can't still do it after the new 29th deadline, so in simple terms, if you're thinking about a move just let me know your thinking about before the end of the 29th. This also means that our teams will now be put up in our league so you can put your starters in for the coming week. Reminder that the first game is next Thursday the 6th.

Also Joe has been chosen to put up a post which was suppose to go up today which did not happen as of yet, so we all look forward to his wisdom sometime soon.

If you're interested in that survival league hurry and get you ass signed up, it doesn't involve thinking much at all and no players are involved either, its just picking a winner every week, so don't worry if you think it was another league or something.

Back Home And Ready For Some Football

So I've done very little on the blog during my week visit to Oshkosh but it's all back to business now, you know, writing a bunch of bullshit and you all reading it. Anyway I got 0 feedback on if everyone wants to keep the trade block on the blog or in our league, we need to know one way or the other so someone say something damnit! Also only around 2 weeks left before moves and trades will count so make sure to get your transactions done. All transactions that happen once the league is underway will not be reflected on the blog, no sense in it being in two different places.

Also I'm thinking we will randomly picking people to put up a post, so be ready to give it a try, nothing fancy just a post of any kind.

Adding Alittle Flare

So trades and free agent moves are not happening as much as thought but the deadline is Sept 1st remember. I started another league, free for any of you who want to join. Its not a normal league like our regular one, its a survival league. I've never been in one so I don't know what to expect. As far as it sounds is you pick 1 team every week and that team has to win, if it loses then you're out until only one player remains and then it starts over, I don't know if it keeps track of your record or how it even scores but it's pretty simple and not a lot of thinking involved, I thought it would be just for fun. If you want to join it just go here http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/survival click on "sign up" and it will as for ID # and password (#6003 password= 0880) and then you make your team up and stuff. We will see what its all about.

Trade Block 6

Ok so you're comfortable with the block and have checked it out and its time to decide. There is a trading block in our league but most people didn't use it last year and it doesn't give the info you get here but you can edit it yourself, so I would like to hear if this is a thing you all would like all season, if so then every Friday it'll be here and you just keep sending in your players otherwise we will use the league block, write in the comments what you feel. Here are the 7 players on the block....

Jeff Garcia QB(TB) BYE==10
---Owner==Tanacious Tanuki, looking at all offers

Michael Vick QB(ATL) BYE==8
J. Norwood RB(ATL) BYE==8
---Owner==Pink Rabbits, looking at all offers, would like a TE in trade,willing to do a multi-player trade. If anyone wants to gamble and see if Vick plays or not you can get him at the cost of almost nothing, ANY player you want can be traded for him.

Benjamin Watson TE(NE) BYE=10
Fred Taylor RB(JAX) BYE=4
Terry Glenn WR(DAL) BYE==8
Braylon Edwards WR(CLEV) BYE==7
---Owner==Sap Suckers, looking to trade any combination of two for 1 good WR that doesn't have the bye week 8 or 7

Transactions

We have had our first transaction on the free agent market, so take the time to look at the sidebar so you know what it will look like when a player is dropped, players that are picked up will not be listed in the sidebar but will be on the current roster sheet. If you remember the date the sheet was updated last then whenever you look at it and it has a later date something has changed and you may wish to look at it and see who was picked up off the free agent market. The number next to the player that was just dropped is the days left to get your bid in for him, if the days are gone and the player remains on the list then he is a free agent able to be picked up without competition for him.The breakdown of what it looks like is this (team that released player--player info--waiver days left) Any questions leave in the comment area so all can see.

Roster Sheet

We added a roster sheet to our link list now due to the trades that have happened. The draft sheet will not show transactions it is only a reference for how the draft happened but the new roster sheet will have all transactions updated on the rosters to make it easier for you to check all the current teams out. As you can also see there is now a date by both the roster sheet and draft sheet showing you when it was last updated with new information.

Chad Johnson WR(CIN) BYE==5

**********REMINDER***********
If you make a multi-player trade thats uneven and we are still drafting then you must include a draft pick to even it out,(player x and player y are traded for player z, but its a 2 for 1 trade making it uneven, the trade must include a pick so it could be player x and player y for player z and 15th round pick, making it a 2 for 2 trade, everyone must have 15 players on their team when the draft concludes and then again by Sept. 1st) after the draft you can do uneven trades as long as that player has room for them on his roster.

Oh The Big Mouth Has A Mike.........Watch Out

It all began when the Panthers drafted Jarrett (which is a younger Keyshawn), then the Panthers said goodbye to Johnson, he floated around looking for a deal that he in no way was good enough for (which was like 8 mil of 1 year) of course no one gave him that kind of cash so he took a job with ESPN. So most thoughts were "another Irvin to have to listen too, someone who doesn't know what the hell he is talking about" which still remains to be seen but we do know he has a big mouth and has no problem with saying what he thinks, which may keep his job for him or he may be canned faster then Spam. Not that he is that interesting or anything but I read a article with a bunch of his quotes so far and some of that stuff is pretty funny, allow me to share with you.....

1)During ESPN's NFL draft coverage in April, Johnson made a passing comment about Mitchell's dubious pro career. Johnson suggested that the former Philadelphia Eagles wideout wouldn't have been seen as such a failure in the NFL if he had been a middle-round pick and not saddled with the lofty expectations of being a first-rounder. It was a comment that, in truth, barely moved the needle in two days of ESPN's grinding draft coverage...."He was pissed," Johnson said of the first time he saw Mitchell after the making the comment.

"It shocked me. I was floored. Floored, because if it was me, my feelings wouldn't have been hurt. If a guy is saying I'm an ass because I cussed out Jon Gruden, they're saying it because I cussed him out. I'm not going to try to say 'That's not what happened.' It was on national TV. I did cuss him out …"

"With Freddie, if my opinion is that you were a bust as a No. 1 pick, you were a bust. Period. Guys have had more catches in three games than you had in your whole career. I mean, you're a bum. What I was trying to say is if you were taken in the third, fourth or fifth round and you caught those 30 balls, you'd still be playing to this day."

2)"I'm not going to blow a guy up and make him a star, and I'm not going to bury a guy," said Johnson, the No. 1 overall pick in 1996. "I'm just not into that. I'm not going spend every week talking about Terrell Owens. (Bleep) him. He's not that important to me, for me to go in every week and talk about him. Unless he goes and does something crazy, then everyone is talking about him and you have no choice. But I'm not going to continue to talk about him and make him into something bigger than what he really is. He's not that big. He's a (bleeping) receiver, you know?"

3)"ESPN is bigger than any of the teams that were after me," Johnson said. "There was the opportunity to jump into something now and get out of the game healthy. In my career, I've done everything. I can't find one thing where I say to myself, dang, I wish I had done that – other than win more championships. But, hell, guys go 20 years and don't win any – like poor Jackie Slater."

"I wasn't going to be one of those guys who stayed too long. Like Brett Favre. What the hell is he still playing for? He should have quit three years ago"

4)"I'm going to hit a valid point when I say something," he said. "I'm not just going to throw some (stuff) against a wall."

"It's like when (fellow ESPN analyst) Michael Wilbon was trying to tell me that Tom Brady was an icon. There's only four or five guys in the world that are icons. Muhammad Ali. Tiger Woods. Michael Jordan. Dale Earnhardt in NASCAR. Those guys are icons. Tom Brady is not an icon. No matter how you want to glorify his position – winning three championships, he looks good with the scruffy beard and he's dating Gisele. That's great. But he's not an icon."

"You can't always use those words. I was a good football player. I wasn't a great football player. Jerry Rice was great. There's a difference. Michael Irvin calls himself great. He was good on a great team with a lot of championships. But he wasn't as great as he makes himself out to be."

Oh man we might have some Keyshawn entertainment all year, more then he ever could give us on the football field.

A Few More Tools To Use

Here are a few more tools to use when managing your team. The first is the new link "NFL News Wire" I put that link up a few days ago but you might not have noticed it. It has current news stories at the top in black text and their fantasy opinion in green text below each story, which helps with guessing with what to do.

The second link is the "Draft Spreadsheet" which Branden made, you gave hours of you time to us Branden which we can never repay you for, I hope you take our tears as a sign of thanks. Anyway, its pretty cool, the sheet has our entire draft listed with some filters at the top, if you want to check out someones whole team just use the window with owner above it and pick the owner, the sheet will only show that owners team, you can do this for players, teams, owners, rounds, bye weeks, positions, making it very easy to look at other players teams or your own to know of bye week problems you didn't look at, also makes trades easier to look at. Branden will continue to update this sheet as the draft finishes up.

Its kinda funny how last year we had no help or tools to use and this year we have like 800 things to help make a good choice. Viva La Blog!!

Round 12 Recap

Its here!! round 12 recap and it was such a exciting one, 3 kickers, 2 defs and 3 tightends sprinkled with 1 QB and 1 RB.

Trade calculator tip, if you put in a trade that is uneven the trade calculator will almost always side with the side with more players regardless of their value. To fix that problem put a 3rd string player on the uneven side to even it out, then it seems to be way more accurate.

ROUND 12
1)El Chupacabra--J. Russell (OAK)
2)Pink Rabbits--J. Wilkins (STL)
3)Tanuki--A.Vinatieri (IND)
4)Bebop Cola--Dallas (DEF)
5)Fresh Fish--Philly (DEF)
6)Sap Suckers--B. Watson (NE)
7)Clamrams-- S. Graham (CIN)
8)Blue Heelers--D.Clark(IND)
9)Rogues--H.Miller (PIT)
10)Coon Hounds--K.Jones(DET)

Trading Block 2

Another Friday and another group of players with owners looking to strike a deal for them. Before we get right into it I just want everyone to know that the Trade Calculator is updated!! there is a ton of new players in there, very easy and works very well, if you think of a trade for some players on the block or maybe trying for someone not on the block, then check it out on the Calculator first to see if its a ridiculous trade or a fair one. We have 7 players on the block and they are.....

Jeff Garcia QB(TB) BYE==10
Owner==Tanacious Tanuki, looking at all offers

Michael Vick QB(ATL) BYE==8
Jamal Lewis RB(CLE) BYE==7

Owner==El Chupacabra, looking for a RB and QB, willing to trade Johnson and 15th round pick for the trade.

Owner==Sap Suckers, looking to trade both WRs for 1 good WR that doesn't have the bye week 8 or 9

Chad Johnson WR(CIN) BYE==5
Owner==Coon Hounds, looking to get a QB for him

**********REMINDER***********
If you make a multi-player trade thats uneven and we are still drafting then you must include a draft pick to even it out,(player x and player y are traded for player z, but its a 2 for 1 trade making it uneven, the trade must include a pick so it could be player x and player y for player z and 15th round pick, making it a 2 for 2 trade) after the draft you can do uneven trades as long as that player has room for them on his roster.

Trade And Free-agent Deadline

For all trades and free-agent moves the deadline will be Sept 1st. This means that after the 1st there is no trading or free-agent moves outside the league restrictions, you can still trade but is will cost you one of your 10 trades allowed for the season, you also can still do free-agent moves but it will cost you 1 of your 16 moves for the season. If a trade is in the process at that time I must have an email on the 1st stating the trade or it will not count. Any questions please post them in comments so everyone can see.

Friday, July 6, 2007

You Thought I Was Joking??!!

As you can see I have put up the pictures as I said I would, only one person sent in a picture so I had to use what I had for the rest of you. Woody is the only person I do not have a picture of so I made up a nice looking picture there for him. Greez, I have a picture of you somewhere but I could not find it but don't worry I will locate it and get your face plastered up there with the rest of us, until then you get the dumb santa hat guy you made up.

ROUND 10 RECAP

Here is your round 10 recap. 5 QBs fall this round making the Qb pool pretty thin followed by a few RBs and WRs. Trade ideas have already begun forming and with some bye week issues to solve a free trade might be the perfect answer.

Are You Going To Get Your Insurance?

Insurance used to be to protect your family and items from the unexpected but now you can get "insurance" for you fantasy football players. A lot of fantasy experts will advise you to pick up your insurance option if you draft a player that is to good not to be covered, injury prone or when the starter might lose his job, of course they are talking about that players backup. It covers you in the event one of your key players gets injured, then you have the replacement and no worries. Some insurance players can even be played because they split time with the starter which makes them extra important. Another plus about insurance players is they are usually the ones playing later in the season so the starters don't get injured for the playoffs. Some top starters and their insurance players are in no certain order:
1)W. Dunn and J. Norwood (ATL) Dunn had a bad year and might lose his job to Norwood
2)D. Foster and D. Williams (CAR) Foster is no prize at RB, might lose it to Williams
3)M. Lynch and A. Thomas (BUF) Lynch should start but Thomas could split with rookie
4)C. Taylor and A. Peterson (MIN) Taylor looks like he will be splitting time
5)T. Henry and M. Bell (DEN) Henry is the starter, Bell is only in injury case
6)K. Jones and T. Bell (DET) Bell and Jones could be splitting time this season
7)R. Bush and D. McAllister (NO) Both are great RBs and could start every week
8)C. Portis and L. Betts (WASH) Portis is coming back from injury, just in case
9)F. Taylor and M. Jones-Drew (JACK) Both could be used as starters
10)J. Jones and M. Barber (DAL) Barber is a TD machine last year
11)B. Jacobs and R. Droughns (NYG) Jacobs first year as a starter, may need some rest

Of course they're others out there too. If you have one of these players you might want to think about taking the other half of your draft pick.

Monday, June 18, 2007

Round 8 Recap

1)Clamrams-- A. Crumpler (ATL)

10)Sap Suckers-----B. Jacobs (NYG)

**********SOMETHING NEW TO ADD******* When our draft is completed we all know that trades can be done before the season starts, if you do trade before the season starts it doesn't count as one of your 10 trades for the season. Like trades free agents can be picked up and players can be dropped before our season starts and it won't count toward your 16 moves. We will have waivers on players that are dropped, everyone will get 2 days to be able to see the dropped player if you would like to try for him just email me, after 2 days all managers who wanted a certain player will be put in a bowl and 1 will be drawn randomly, again you will get a confirmation email if you got the player. All the transactions will be on the blog so everyone can see. Here is how to do either option

**Adding/dropping players** Email me the player you wish to pick up and which player you would like to drop, if the player you would like to pick up is a free agent then I'll send you a confirmation email saying your transaction went through. If your player is on a waiver then you will have to wait to see if you are drawn.

**Trading** If a trade is wanted, all parties must email me the trade, if manager 1 and manager 2 want to trade player x and player y both managers must email me and tell me the trade. This way the trade is confirmed by both people and its understood. (plus no cheating can happen, not that it would)

Post any questions or ideas in the comments to make this as easy as possible.

Who Would You Get Rid Of First?

In the NFL there is comings and goings of coaches, managers, owners, players, etc. and most of the time the goings are for a good reason and some are just not right. Then there is the small group of people that just never leave, these people are like a poison to the organization they are part of but they just don't seem to care. What order would you get rid of these guys? Here is mine.

AL DAVIS (OWNER OF THE RAIDERS)==You just suck, I'd get your ass out as fast as it came in. Year after year I watch this guy making stupid move after stupid move. Hiring Art Shell was by far the worst last year. Jerry Jones is an annoying owner but at least he makes some moves that make sense.

Matt Millen (CEO OF THE LIONS)==You're next, you've slowly been building your own Al Davis resume. Matt was way better at announcing then trying to run a team. You've done very little in the drafting and done even less in a QB for this club, Joey Harrington sucked and Matt kept him as long as they did for what? The Dolphins knew he was trash after one year!

Jeff Fisher (COACH OF TITANS)==How do you still have a job? You have done very little for this team since 2000! Most coaches don't get more then 2 years to get the team on their feet but you get forever to try. The axe may be falling soon though with Fishers contract up this year.

Jon Gruden(COACH OF BUCS)==My last firing would be Gruden, you get a free superbowl win off of a team you didn't build and its just been falling apart ever since. He doesn't seem to do much there, no great players move in and only decent players ever seem to leave, they need a change.

Did I miss anyone on this list, if so let me know. I'm curious to see who you would fire first. Lets hear it and get your teams signed up in the league.

Lets Get To Know Everyone Better

Ok, so here we are in our 2nd year together. We feel a little more comfortable with each other and the draft is going along well. In an effort to bring our league even closer together we have our blog, which is doing well in keeping everyone informed. I would like to do away with the list of names to the top right of the page and replace it with us, and when I say us I mean us. I want our pictures all up there with our names on it so everyone can put a face with the name. Let us not be strangers but brothers............errrrr and sisters united. Let us join hands and sing to the skies as our circle of friends grows.......................or so we know what the douche that just beat us looks like so if we ever see them on the street they better run. Whatever your reason works for me. Please send me the picture you want on the blog. Oh and if some of you choose not to send in pictures that's fine because I do have pictures of all of you (except Woody) and trust me they are not real pretty but I'll take what I have unless you cough it up. I'm looking to have this up in the next 2 weeks. Later chumps

Oh It's On Now!!!

Like a kid waiting for Santa on Xmas Eve, we have waited. We've drafted, discussed and written on NFL topics hoping to see some sign that the season is getting closer. Well get your smiling avatars ready, start writing up you best smack talk (because some of you need to write it out first) snap on your game face and get your team set up in the league! Yahoo is now ready for you. The link to our league is in the list of links. Our league ID# 2462 and password 0880, (anyone reading this that isn't part of our league and you join will be banned so don't waste your time.)Its time to defend my title and based on our draft so far it looks to be rough. Suit up and get your name on the Hall Of Fame. Remember playoffs are active this year so even if your record isn't great you still have a chance to take it all. Just make sure you're in the top 8 teams. Good luck and lets have some fun people.

Defend Yourself I Say!!!!

Well it's getting close to the half way mark of our draft, most of our starters are in place and ready but when should your starting defense be drafted? Well I suppose it depends on your mood or how you rank each position to each other. A good defense can really win you a game like Baltimore did last year. With the offseason shuffle every year how do you know which defense is worthing picking up right now or should you focus on your back-ups? Many different players draft differently, some think a even depth chart is the best way to go, while others try to get at least someone in the top five in every position and move on not dealing with back-ups until later. Who knows what works best, maybe both can work. Like I said it depends what you value more. Here are some of our defensive stats from last year. Baltimore hauled in 240 fantasy points which was more then any other defense and better then most players too. Chicago made 199 fantasy points which is still quite a bit higher then the defense average, the next closest was N.E.with 165 pts. After that there is a few around 150 (Philadelphia, Minnesota,San Diego)and after that most other defenses where averaging around 130. So if you have an average defense you were over 100 fantasy points behind the top defense last year. Would that extra 100 fantasy points have helped you out? Hell Yeah it would've! The answer to "is it to early to grab a defense?" is NO, it's not to early based on those stats but you have to make sure you get one of the top 3 defenses in the league or its a wasted draft pick. Do your homework and check offseason trades and signings, you just might be able to figure out who will be the best.

A Few New Items

Just to let everyone know I have put up a 2nd player ranking site along with a Trade Calculater which is kinda cool. You put in your player or players to trade and then select the player or players you are trading for and it tells you if thats a solid trade or a dangerous one. I think it needs to be updated a bit but its still cool to play with.

football news

We are hereing about all the bad guys, surly their is some positive thing to say about players out there. The pack just had a group of player vist one of the warships and spend the day with the soldiers. I thought that was a pretty nice thing they did for the troops. I for one am glad to see not all the player make bad news.Any one else hear some good news let here what you have to say.

Where is T.O.?

This has been another crazy offseason with trades, drafts and players misbehaving but what is unusual is not one thing from Terrell Owens. When chaos is swirling around the NFL Owens is right in the middle keeping it going. I guess he felt that his childish games would be overshadowed by the much bigger stories going on right now, from Vick and the dogfighting thing to player deaths, Owens would have little to offer us in the news. Maybe when the season gets closer and the big stories go away then Owens can begin to whine and throw a fit, then we will have no choice but to hear it, or and this is a huge or, Owens has grown-up...........nah, I doubt it. Its to bad that such a good player has to be such a baby, maybe thats why he had those childrens books published like the one at the top there, to teach him how to play nice. Time will tell on what he might do or say but this will be my only writing about Owens, I don't like to waste more time on him then this.

mind games

As the mind games go so do the days of our life.Just another soap opera in the making as we try to get the jump on all the rest of you guys and girls out there. Good luck to all in the rounds to come as we make or break on who we pick and who we don't

The Soap Opera That is Brett Favre

So of course you knew or should've known that something would be on here about Favre. Once a great Qb and a solid fantasy starter, your thoughts would be of hall of fame, superbowls and broken records. Favre also was a player that you could look at and say "man its nice to see someone enjoying the game like him". That was 3 years ago or maybe even 4, these days Favre is all about thinking he is management and telling the coaches they don't know what the hell they are doing. At what point did Favre stop being a player and turn into a coach, owner, gm, etc. oh thats right that never happened!! go back to being a player everyone wishes you would, if not then retire already. All he is adding to the game is how the fans think of him when his name is mentioned. His fantasy numbers for last year in passing was 129 pts, with tds it was 183 (3800 yds and 18 tds) which like Grossman isn't bad, also like Grossman, Favre has another side to his game. His fumbles and ints were -52pts (18 ints and 8 fumbles) making his fantasy points around 131 (remember Brees had around 200pts with mistakes) Favre is another gamble on Qb and since the Packers have not changed much his numbers might be right around the same this year. I hope that gives you something to think about.

That Rascally Rex!!

To draft or not to draft, that is very much the question. Rex was a huge fantasy QB that without warning was putting up monster numbers in the first half of the season. Owners totally scored with him and got him dirt cheap, most of the time he was undrafted and could just be plucked from the free agent pool. What everyone didn't know at the time is there was another side to Rex, a darker side that soon would turn gold into crap. While his season numbers aren't much to wow at (3193 yds and 23 tds) they look like a consistent Qbs numbers, but they are not. His fantasy points in passing last year was around 106, with his tds it was 175 (league leader D. Brees had 225pts) which isn't bad but add in the bad Rex with 20 ints and 8 fumbles which is -56 pts, dropping his year numbers to 119 (D. Brees with mistakes is around 200). My point is should you gamble on him or not, he will make or break you each week putting up plenty of yards and tds one week and then 7 turnovers another. Good luck to the brave soul who drafts him.

The Gates Obsession

It seems like just yesterday we where doing our draft last year. Picking and choosing who we think should be the best, trying to jump and get a top player ahead of everyone, or just trying to get through it. Most drafts pick RB,RB,WR,WR,QB,QB and then it gets alittle wild after. So our draft was swimming along in the normal fashion for the most part when out of the blue A. Gates is drafted in the 4th round. I was thinking "wow that was early" and so was a lot of the rest of you but that didn't stop the league from going into a panic and TEs started falling even though it was still quite early for them. We now fast forward to this year. We are once again jumping around trying to get the best players but still trying to keep balance and again out of the blue in the 4th round A. Gates is drafted. So is it time to panic once again or is the league going to stay calm? time will tell. What I want to know is what is the obsession with A. Gates people!! He is a nice TE but there are at least 10 that are just as nice, his numbers even fell last year and he still gets drafted ahead of positions that get more points then his. So the question is to you Schaefer, what makes him your special man?

We Now Have A Home

Welcome to our own little piece of the world. I was getting ideas, comments, etc. from everyone and thought it might be easier if we have this to go to. For some this will be alittle confusing and for others a breeze. Those of you that can't get the posting thing down don't worry, if you comment at the bottom of a post we can still all see it and respond. I will also be using this more then emails. The round recap and things will be posted here. I know that once the league is set up we can talk in there but this will be up year round and have things achieved for help. Also I will be adding links to player ranking lists, nfl.com, our league once its up, and just other weird stuff. I hope this works for us. Thanks
