Well..........that was a bit crazy
What a injury week to start off the season, geez. Anyway, the contract spreadsheet right now shows your whole roster, it will no longer show this, it will only show players you have under contract and players you have the rights to sign. Also the roster spreadsheet will no longer be updated because our current rosters are kept track of by the yahoo league right now.

Complete Rules For Contracts After May And More
Time for voting is pretty much over so here is the rules that have been changed this year.
1)We will have 1 starting QB instead of 2. (roster will still remain at 15 players)
2)We will go to 6 playoff teams next season instead of 8
3)Complete contract rules. These are permanent and can't have major changes made to them. All small issues that come up during the middle of the season will be ruled on by me and voted on before next year. Here we go
----You can only sign draft picks from the most current draft. They can be players you drafted yourself or traded for but must be a draft pick. IMPORTANT: if you release a draft pick that player loses all contract rights, meaning he can't be signed anymore by anyone, it doesn't matter if someone picks him up, he still can't be signed anymore.
----You will only be able to sign players that are drafted and on your roster at the end of the season
----Traded players can be traded more then once and still be signed as long as they weren't released.
----If you trade/release a player that is under contract already, that player loses his current contract. IMPORTANT: players that are under contract and go to their contract team are not "drafted" players and can't be signed by a new owner if they trade for them. EXP: I have A. Peterson signed to a contract so he fills in my 13th round draft choice but doesn't count as a drafted player. If I trade him away to Joe, Peterson loses his current contract. Joe can't sign Peterson because he wasn't really "drafted" he was drafted last year.
----If you drop/trade a player away with a contract, since they lose it you then get it back. EXP. I signed Peterson to a 3 year deal, if I drop or trade him, I will get my 3 year contract back.
4)You can't trade with an owner more then twice. This should open up the trading with everyone more. Also remember if you trade someone away, you can't trade for that player again until 5 games has passed, this rule was to block any "borrowing" trades to avoid byes.
If you have any contract questions post them in comments, I'm sure there are some bugs to work out with this system but we have worked on it all month. I'll handle any issues during the season.

Last Contract Stuff...............I Think
Last issue to vote and discuss with contracts is, when someone drops/trades a signed player............do they.......
1) Get a new contract in place of the one on the dropped/traded player?
2) Get new contract when the old one expires
3) Get some type of 1 year contract or something
Since contracts don't carry with the players that are moved around I think any one of these could work.

Contractssssssss again and again
Ok, while the last topic finishes up voting we have to decide what happens when a contracted player is traded or dropped. We already know that if you drop a unsigned player he loses all rights to be signed at all but what about players that are under contract already? Ideas
1) All dropped players lose current contract and become a normal FA and all traded players lose current contracts and become a normal player.
2)Contracts on players stay with that player until it expires no matter what.
3)Only traded players keep contracts they were signed too.
I think it would be easier if we did the first one. That way everyone knows what happens no matter what. Also it keeps owners from trying to get a bunch of signed players on their team, no one should get more then 2 signed players.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm
Ok so our contract talks for part 2 are done. This is the offical vote on it.
1)You can only sign drafted players that we kept on your roster or you got through a trade. All players that were drafted and released will lose all signing rights. If a player is placed on IR you can drop him and still have the option to sign him at the end of the year. This vote will also keep our rosters to 15 players
2)You can sign drafted players regardless if you keep them or not.
3)Draft picks/traded can be dropped safe if under contract already and will go back to owner at start of next season

2)You can sign drafted players regardless if you keep them or not.
3)Draft picks/traded can be dropped safe if under contract already and will go back to owner at start of next season

New Item
I put up a link to the Fantasy Football News Pen, its just another blog to post fantasy news I find around, also helps those who can't look/find that stuff. It makes more sense to me to put that stuff there and our league stuff here.
If anyone wants to be able to post fantasy stuff on that blog let me know and I'll send you an invite to it.

Contracts Continued
So we can sign draft picks and players that were drafted and traded. Next contract issue will be the certain rules for signings. So options to talk about are.......
1. Draft picks must remain on roster for the whole year.
2. Draft picks/traded can be dropped safe if under contract already and will go back to owner at start of next season.
3. Draft picks/can be dropped safe all year with the option of signing at the end of the season.
this is all open to bringing new ideas to the table, in general is seems that rules that apply to draft picks might not apply to traded draft picks, which makes the issue alittle tricky. I think once we adopt one of this ideas then we can make firmer rules for it.

So.......................Next
Ok, so while the voting is going on for playoff next week, I'll put up the next debate topic. The issue of contracts have expanded farther then expected and my hope is get it straightened out. While we are getting it worked out I would like everyone to remember that new contract rules will not start until May 1st. Also there has to be some stability in the rules, because contracts are talking about having players for several years we need to set rules and make them solid for good, this is not an issue that can keep changing from year to year. These rules will be forever!
Lets take this slow and break it down. First, who can we sign? some options are
1) Just draft picks
2) Just free agents pick ups
3) Draft picks and Free agents
4) Draft picks and traded players (owner who traded the player away would lose rights to sign said player)
5) Just traded players
6) Free agents and traded players
7) Everyone
Ideas I think could work would be 1,2,3, and 4. I think 5,6, and 7 are extreme and can't work well. If you have other options then bring them up.

What An Idiot
Chris Henry was released by the Bengals. How many chances does he think he has? He's looking at another suspension. He's good, but stupid.
The Story

Voting for 6 team playoffs next year
This is not a debate topic, meaning you don't vote against and then say why you voted against or give a new idea, it's only for voting. You either vote
1. for
2. against
1. for

Playoffs......................Again.......................Next Year
Ok, so I voted against moving to 6 playoff teams instead of 8. Schaef also has said the topic is basically dropped due to lack of votes and nothing moving forward on it. My reasons for wanting 8 teams in again this year are:
1. We have new members(not just to this league, but to fantasy football in general)
2. Playoffs were a new idea last year and I think another year of 8 teams gets everyone used to them.
3. Yes I want the seasons to be extended for those players that were having some trouble but fought back to get in the top 8
These reasons are not permanent. I fought for 8 teams for those reasons but I myself would be fine with taking them on. Schaef and Dans balls put up good points (and shitty ones, plus trying to clump us into a group as the "Nitz's which I will call Namism) I bring this topic up because I would like to vote on next years playoff system now as a compromise.
My vote is FOR 6 teams in the playoffs next year, that should get everyone new to the idea time to adjust.

Oh One More Thing
Also the comments are going nuts, so I think that if you post a topic then please put up your points in it and let everyone vote on it. The debates we're having is not convincing either party to their side, its only debating and getting nothing done. So only put like one comment in your own posts if possible. We just need to be voting more and debating less, though its a good time its not productive.
And leave Dans balls out of your comments, he is a sensitive man and it hurts him.

Contracts Revisited
Ok, we have a few topics that are ongoing but some rules and changes will upset other rules and changes so, to get things kinda cleared up we should discuss the total rules for contracts. The number we have and years are the same but who we can sign will change based on this topic. Some things to vote on
1. Signing only our draft picks
2. Signing only our draft picks that you have on your roster at the end of the season
3. Signing traded players, which opens the door to free agents and a bunch of other messes
4. official rules for trading/cutting signed players
rules put into place now will not take effect until May, meaning all signings must only be done to your draft picks from last year.
Now lets get it done. I think all other topics should be put on hold until this is done.

What to do with the extra spot?
Ok, the 3 WR's post is getting kinda complicated with many ideas, so I am going to try to clean it up. We have an extra spot since we are down to one QB. So here are the main options...
3WR
Extra Bench Spot
Flex Position
Cut a Round from the draft and keep it 1QB, 2WR, 2RB, 1TE, K, DEF, and the bench the same.
Just vote for what you prefer.

3 WRs
Since it looks like the 1 QB rule will pass I propose we go to 3 WRs to make up for that spot. WRs are the most abondant position out there so it only makes sense to switch to them.

Playoffs
I think 8 out of 10 teams making the playoffs is overkill and makes the regular season meaningless.
I don't think that a team with 4 or 5 wins during the regular season has a right to play for the championship. I really think we should narrow it down to six teams. I feel that you should actually have to earn it a little bit. Even with six teams we would still have over 50% of the league making the cut.
On another note concerning the playoffs is the championship game. Most leagues play their championship game during week 16 because as most football fans know week 17 is basically a pre-season game or I guess you could say it's a pre-post season game. either way it's a total garbage week of football with the majority of starters sitting on the bench by the second quarter. I think if we had our championship game during week 16 it would be a much better ending to the season than the half-ass week 17 where you are just guessing well maybe this player will play a half, and maybe this guy will get a td in his one quarter of play.

Contracts
I would like to bring up the issue of awarding contracts to players. I would like to be able to give contracts to players that I traded for and did not draft. In the NFL when a team trades for a player they can give a contract to the new player even though they did not origianlly draft them. I would like to bring this item to vote.

Qurterbacks
I know its a little early but I would like to have a vote on playing one qurterback instead of 2. My idea would be you play one each week instead of two, and there touchdowns would be worth 6 points instead of 4. That way the qb pool is not so thin if you have a injury or somthing happen to one of your qbs. With only one not evryone would need to have 3 qbs on their team they only need two. Also with 6 pts per touchdown you still get a decent point total. Just a idea to vote on.
The fun is about to start
It's time for another fun year of fantasy football. Welcome to the two new members and good luck to everyone.

Its About To Begin
Ok so our league is going to be entering April which is our month to change any rules or go over anything before our draft May 1st. Now is the time to get in the habit of checking the blog every couple days or so until the season starts. Like last year there will be a post put up every 2-3 days, feel free to post anything you like, its your blog afterall. Also don't forget that if you're signing a player it has to be done before May 1st. The way our rule changing works is if you would like something changed you can email me and I'll post in on the blog or you can post it on the blog yourself(not like any of you do that but......). Once a topic is posted everyone gets to vote for or against it, you vote in the comments at the bottom of the post. Here are current rules, look over them and bring up any changes you want voted on.

A Reminder Of How Your Contracts Work
Everyone gets a 2 and 3 year contract to place on drafted players. A contract isn't really measured in years but in seasons, a 3 year contract is good for 3 seasons, not 3 real years, so the minute the last contract season is over that player is a free agent.
A contract can be placed on any player you drafted from the from the last draft.
When a player is under contract, the owner will lose the round he was drafted in for the set number of contract years. (EXP=player x was drafted in the 3rd round last year and signed to a 2 year contract, the owner will then lose his 3rd round pick for the next 2 years because players x will be his pick for that round.)
Can I release a player from a contract? Yes, once the player is released you will get that draft round back the at the next draft but your contract will be gone until it expires on its own. (EXP= After 1 year player x was released from his contract, the owner gets his 3rd round pick back for the next draft but doesn't get another 2 year contract until the first one expires the next year.
When a contract expires can I resign my player? No you can only sign players you drafted from the last completed draft.
Can I use both my 2 & 3 year contracts on the same player at once? No these are different contracts and cant be combined.
Can contracted players still be traded or released? Yes normal trades and releases that happen during the season don't do anything to your contracted player. (EXP= player x is traded in week 5 of his first contracted year, after the season ends player x returns to his contracted owner to fulfill his last contract year of his 2 year contract). Same goes for released players
How do I sign a player? Email me your player and contract you wish to use, if it all checks out (meaning you have a open contract left to use and did in fact draft that player) it will be posted on the blog on the right sidebar under Contracts, the sidebar shows the owner, player signed, and contract years remaining.
How do I release a player from a contract? Email me your player to release from contract, it will show up on the right sidebar of this blog along with contract years left to expire.
Can I release a player anytime? No you can not release a player during our draft but any other time is fine.
I think that covers it, if you have questions or if I forgot something please comment it so I can change this. thanks
